This video is an edited version of the full interview / fireside chat style q&a with Mosaic Ventures partners Simon Levene and Mike Chalfen and Sam Altman..
full interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKpmHoJfO5g
.published nov. 2016.

I put this together to make it easier to watch (many studies show subtitled videos get more plays)
And I wanted a little more streamlined video for people who are focused mainly on the listed topics since the full was 97 minutes long.

Sam Altman, being president of Y Combinator, and co-founder of Open AI along side Elon Musk, are just some his many, many accolades and notable influential roles. As he's at such a young age, I feel we all should be fairly in tune with his mindset since he's literally helping shape our worlds future more than most people. And being that he's such a kind, generous, and intelligent lad, I'm extremely proud to get the chance to be alive in the time that people like him are helping lead the way. It doesn't take much time listening to him to realize there's very few individuals like him.

I spent probably too much time on this video, but figured it can serve as like a nice tribute to Sam for all of his contributions to society.

We wrote last April about the opportunity for habito to bring mortgages into the 21st century.

Mortgages are an enormous category, over £200 billion in the UK alone. Yet for a commodity-like product — who cares which lender your money comes from — it is exceedingly complex for a consumer to find the right mortgage, struggle through the jargon, and the mountain of paperwork, then stay on the best deal forever.

habito changed all of this in less than 12 months. Their AI-powered chatbot provides the right advice to homebuyers in minutes, with access to over 60 lenders and 10,000 mortgage products, and takes care of getting them the mortgage they need. Having worked closely with Daniel and the habito team for 18 months, we know that while this consumer feat may appear simple, the product development effort to achieve it has been enormous and has involved many iterations. And we know this is just the beginning for them as they seek to become the future of mortgages.

Daniel’s vision is to stand side-by-side with customers as they navigate one of their most critical life decisions, and to completely reinvent the mortgage experience. Using software to automate this process end-to-end is the goal for the next few years, and habito will soon be in a...

Sam also discusses YC’s strategy and future including the new $700 continuity fund as well as the launch of YC research, a nonprofit research lab (including the famed initiative around universal basic income).

In the second half of the podcast, Mike goes deep on AI, asking Sam:

How and when will AI become a dominant force in our lives?

Will there be a single AI, a benevolent dictator or a world of multiple AIs with no one dominant AI?

Who will regulate this AI? How can governance be globally effective?

Will AI create a world of infinite wealth? And in this world how will humans achieve status, fulfillment and happiness?

Should team building happen artificially or organically? How do successful teams organize their decision-making and is there a right way of parting ways if things don't work out? Toby Coppel, Co-founder and Partner at Mosaic Ventures leads the discussion on what kind of teams thrive. On stage with him are Kat Manalac, Director of Outreach at Y-Combinator and Alice Bentinck, Co-founder at Entrepreneur First.

--

In 2017, Slush brought together 20,000 attendees, including 2,600 startups, 1,600 investors and 600 journalists from over 130 countries. The cold and dark Helsinki welcomed these tech-heads to a week long celebration (27.11.-1.12.), including Slush Music, new Slush Y verticals, and hundreds of side-events and activities around the city. Slush Week 2018 takes place on 4.–5.12.2018.
